So you've hired a cybersecurity team. Love that for you! But if you think your app is now 100% hack-proof, I have to say this: That's just plain naive. Hackers don't take days off, and new threats show up every week.
1. Security Is a Seatbelt, Not a Force Field
- The Vibe: A seatbelt massively cuts your risk in a crash. It doesn't make you crash-proof, and it only works if you keep wearing it.
- The Simple Example: Your security team checks the app in January. In March, your developers add a new feature with a hidden weak spot. Nobody re-checks it. That's the door hackers walk through.
- Not to do: "We did a security test once." Software that never gets updated. Treating security as a one-time purchase.
2. Your Team Is Part of the Defense
- The Vibe: You can hire the best bodyguard in town. But if someone hands the house keys to a stranger, the bodyguard can't do much.
- The Simple Example: An employee gets a convincing "IT support" email, clicks the link, and types in their login. No fancy hacking needed. The hacker just walked in.
- What to do: Teach your team to spot phishing (fake messages that trick you into giving away info), and turn on 2FA for every admin account.
In short: a cybersecurity service lowers your risk a lot, but nobody can honestly promise zero risk. Today, ask your security partner one simple question: "When's our next check-up?"
